PhotoBook

My book is about adopt not shop. I really like the idea create my own book even it is a little bit expensive. According to the animal protection association, the world has about 700 million dogs, 70% were stray dogs. I hope that the concept of “adoption instead of buying” will accepted by more and more people.

Everybody Street Film

In this documentary, filmmaker Cheryl Dunn pays tribute to the spirits of urban photography through a cinematic exploration of New York City, capturing the rush, perseverance and often the danger customary to street photograph.

The city that never sleeps has inspired countless artists who’ve lived, worked and dreamed on the bustling playground of New York’s streets.

This film allows the photographers to speak for themselves, and they’re quite eloquent in illuminating why they do what they do.

Photobooth

Shan He and I went to Oceanside Pier. We try at UCSD campus first but no one are willing to let us take the photo. We were there for 2 and half hours, but no body would help us. Then we figure out that if we asking people to take the photo and we give them a free bottle water they may interested in it. When went there about 12pm. It is really hot, so lots of people were asking a free water. We explain to them we were doing a school project, please let us taking a photo of them and then we will give them a bottle of water. We had a big sign “Free Water” in front of us, and people start to cooperate with us. We also prepare lots of props let people choose in case if they want to cover their face.

The whole experience were great, and also help me to practices how to communicated with people. I had few people leaved their email and ask me to sending the photos to them. This experience gives me a lots of courage and confidence to talk with people. If I have to change one thing to make this better that would be do not site the tripod towards the sun because the back light is serious.

Pictorialism

I went to Discovery Lake to shot those photo at Friday. I am not really familiar with Photoshop so I watch a lots of YouTube video to learn how to use it. But, I like to setting the photos in a dust like sense to make it a pictorialism photo. I last photo I was taking in my house. It was afternoon,  and the sun shine on the wall, I think it is really beautiful.

MOPA

Last Sunday I went to Museum of Photographic Art in Balboa Park with my classmate Shan He. I take a lot of inspiration photo from the museum. I have never been to Balboa Park before, and the experience in MOPA was great. Above are five photos as inspirational photos from the exhibition. This is my first time to visit a photography museum. The building and architecture are gorgeous that every angle I capture can be a beautiful photograph. When I get into the MOPA and walk through the gallery, every works inspirited me a lot.

My favorite photographer is Irving Penn because most of his works caught my eye. He has a special insistence on his preference for photography. I also like black and white photography a lot. Black is opposed to white, but with the white contrast full of interest. They are the source of all things in nature, as well as the leisurely poet.

Irving Penn works hard to get away from the elaborate, ornate backdrop. He prefers to use only one corner of the room as the background. With a messy rug and stool, under the dim light, however, captures precisely the character’s character and the inner touch. Not only did he perfectly capture every model’s expression, clothing details, but also let the photos send out a noble and intriguing subtle texture. He insisted on shooting only under simple lighting conditions, without excessive decoration, and only let the details of the characters and objects themselves, to interpret the essence of things.
